Three small habits for reading every day

People who read daily rarely rely on willpower. They rely on small, boring habits that remove the decision.
1. Attach it to something you already do
Read right after your morning coffee, or the moment you sit down on the bus. A habit with a trigger doesn't need a reminder. Pick one anchor and stick to it for two weeks.
2. Leave the book where you'll see it
Put your current guide on the pillow, next to the kettle or on your desk keyboard. Friction kills habits. If the book is in a bag in another room, tomorrow's reading is already in trouble.
3. Set a goal so small it's silly
Two pages. One section. Five minutes. You will usually read more, but the goal is to make starting effortless. On your busiest day, two pages still counts and keeps the chain alive.
When you miss a day
Don't try to catch up. Just read your two pages tomorrow. The habit survives a missed day; it rarely survives guilt.
Track it lightly
A tick on a paper calendar is enough. Seeing a row of ticks is more motivating than any app.
